Grants for energy saving home improvements

Government energy saving schemes

In March 2023, the government ended its Energy Bill Support Scheme. Thankfully, they have other support options available to the businesses and individuals that need it most. These include the following:

Energy Bills Discount Scheme: Provides businesses with support for their energy bills until 31 March 2024.
Winter Fuel Support Scheme: An annual payment for Welsh households in receipt of certain benefits.
Warm Home Discount: Provides vulnerable households with a one-time discount on electricity bills during the winter months.
Winter Fuel Payment: A tax-free payment made annually to help older people with the cost of heating during winter.
Cold Weather Payment: Receive a payment each time the average temperature in your area drops below zero degrees for 7 days in a row, running between 1 November and 31 March.
Household Support Fund: A support program aimed at assisting vulnerable households facing financial hardship. Offers financial aid to cover various essential expenses, such as energy bills, rent, and food costs.

Energy Company Support

Many energy companies have programs or financial assistance available to help with your home heating and energy costs. With some providers, you don’t have to be their customer to take advantage of these opportunities.

Just get in touch with your energy supplier and ask them what kind of help they offer. They will be able to tell you about any programs you might be eligible for and how to apply.
