Liquid Petroleum Gas (LPG) boilers work in a very similar way to natural gas boilers. The main difference is that the LPG fuel is stored in a tank on your property rather than being supplied through the mains. Here’s an overview of how an LPG boiler works:

Are LPG boilers being phased out?

There are no current plans to ban the sale or installation of LPG boilers in the UK. However, as the government is looking to reduce the use of fossil fuels, there’s a possibility that they could be phased out in the future, but there is no clear timeline for this at present.

What is an LPG boiler?

LPG boilers work by burning liquid petroleum gas (LPG) to heat water. The hot water is then circulated around your home to heat your radiators and provide hot water for your taps. Are there any LPG boiler replacement grants?

While there aren’t any dedicated national LPG grant schemes to help with the cost of the purchase and installation of a new system, you might be eligible under the regional LA Flex scheme. However, ECO4 grants of up to £5,000 in England and Wales and up to £9,000 for different areas of Scotland are available to install a more environmentally friendly option like an air source heat pump.
