The type of battery you choose will affect its lifespan. Lead-acid batteries typically last 3-5 years, while lithium-ion batteries can last 5-10 years.

How many batteries do I need for a 5 kW solar system?

This will depend on how much energy you use, but there’s a simple rule-of-thumb formula that you can use to work out how many batteries you might need.

Number of batteries = (your energy needs/battery capacity) divided by 2

So, for example, if you use 20 kWh of energy per day and your battery capacity is 5 kWh, then you will need 4 batteries. If you’re in any doubt, though, we’re always on hand to help!

The number of solar batteries needed to power an average 3-bedroom house depends on a few factors, including the size of your solar panel system, your energy needs, the climate you live in, and the type of battery you have.
